FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an account to play?
Yes. An account lets your games save to the cloud, so you can resume a delve from any device. If a save briefly fails to sync, your current game keeps running locally until it reconnects.

Is Death Maze single-player or multiplayer?
It's a solo game. One account leads the whole party of up to six characters and makes every decision, with no shared or online co-op. The original board game is played by one to six people; here you take every seat yourself. You can still share a game: mark a save Public or Unlisted so friends can follow it, or stream it live so they can watch.
What do Private, Unlisted, and Public mean for a save?
Private saves are visible only to you. Unlisted saves can be viewed by anyone with the link, but aren't listed anywhere. Public saves additionally show up on the Public Games page and can appear in the Hall of Fame leaderboards, which count public saves only and show just the player's display name.
Can I watch someone else play?
If a player marks a public save as streaming, it appears on the Live Games page and you can watch it update as they play. A save's own page also links directly to the stream while it's live.
What's a replay?
A step-by-step history of a save, recorded automatically as checkpoints while it's played. Once a save has any history to show, you can scrub back and forth through it from its own page.
Is this an official product?
No. It's an independent fan project, not affiliated with the original board game's publisher or designer. See the About page for more.
How does Citadel of Blood differ from Labirynt Śmierci?
Mostly in names: the Hellgate is the Black Gate, X the Unknown is the Nameless One, Initiates are apprentices. The Heroes, the monsters' stats and most tables are identical; about two dozen small rules differ, from how the party reorganises in combat to what Lightning does. The comparison page lists every one.

Where does the game come from?
Labirynt Śmierci is an unlicensed Polish edition of SPI's Citadel of Blood (1980), published by Encore around 1982–1984, and Citadel of Blood itself grew out of SPI's Deathmaze (1979). The history page tells the story and has the printed credits.
