About Death Maze
Death Maze is an independent, fan-made adaptation of the Labirynt Śmierci and Citadel of Blood board games for the browser, built to follow the original rulebooks step by step.
Why this exists
The physical game needs a table, every component in the box, and everyone free at the same time. This version keeps the same rules and the same tile-by-tile tension, but runs in a browser, so you can start a delve whenever you like and pick it back up later from any device.
How it works
Maze tiles are drawn from the same pool as the board game, one room or corridor at a time, so the dungeon takes shape exactly the way it would around a table. Combat, searches, and the hunt for the Black Gate all follow the rulebook; see How to Play for the full rundown.
Credits, and not an official product
Death Maze is an independent, fan-made browser version of Labirynt Śmierci and Citadel of Blood. Labirynt Śmierci is a Polish board game published by Encore (Jan Adamski, the company's founder) around 1982–1984 without an official licence. Labirynt Śmierci is an unlicensed Polish edition of Citadel of Blood (SPI, 1980; game design and development Eric Smith, original game system design Greg Costikyan and Redmond A. Simonsen, physical systems and graphics Redmond A. Simonsen), which in turn grew out of Deathmaze (SPI, 1979; design and development Greg Costikyan, physical systems and graphics Redmond A. Simonsen). The Citadel of Blood characters and premise come from SPI's Swords and Sorcery.
